Who is Veerbhadra ?

If you are a Shivaite or a hindu, then you would have heard the name of Veerbhadra, the destroyer form of Lord Shiva, but do you know what was the story behind Lord Shiva taking the form of Veerbhadra. It is as follows.

When Lady Sati asked her father King Daksha to let her marry Lord Shiva, he strictly refused this saying that Shiva is a mere yogi who smears himself with ash and lives in cave and that he cannot take care of a princess like you. Lady Sati did not agreed by this and decided to marry Lord Shiva secretly. They both get married and Lady Sati shifted to Mount Kailash to live with Lord Shiva. King Daksha didn't like it and he abandoned Lady Sati. Once he organised a yagna and invited all the gods and goddesses except for Lord Shiva and Lady Sati. Lady Sati thought of visiting King Daksha's palace and asked Lord Shiva to join her  as well, but Lord Shiva refused saying that if she wants to go she can go alone. After this Lady Sati decided to go to King Daksh's palace, but when she reached there she saw that no seat was reserved for her and Lord Shiva. On seeing this Lady Sati got furious and very dissapointed and then she immolated herself to the fire of the yagna of King Daksha. On knowing this Lord Shiva got furious and out of rage he plucked out two lock from his hairs and from these two hairs, VEERBHADRA and BHADRAKALI were born. Both Veerbhadra and Bhadrakali were black as charcoal and looked fearsome in every possible way. Lord Shiva asked them to go to King Daksha's palace ad destroy it completely. They both reached the palace destroying anything or anyone coming in their path. They both stopped this havoc only when Veerbhadra chopped of the head of King Daksha. After this when Lord Shiva cooled down and reached King Daksh's palace, Sati's mother, Prasuthi, requested him saying that only he could bring King Daksha back to life as he is killed by one of his gana. Other gods and goddesses present at the palace also told Lord Shiva that King Daksha has realised his mistake and that he should not be given the death penalty. Lord Shiva accepted their opinions and gave King Daksha a new life, but tis time he offered a goat head to him instead of the human one because that one has been chopped off by Veerbhadra. When King Daksha got back to life, he appologises to the great Mahadev and bowed his head to him.
